Lot Coding

Each lot of Briess malt receives a unique lot code based on its production date. This code is composed of a series of numbers that identify the exact production date and is printed on the label.

Year – Month – Day of Month

To read a Briess lot code, start from the left and read to the right. The first two numbers correspond to the year the product was manufactured. The second two numbers designate the month of production. And the last two numbers indicate the day of the month of production. Here’s an example:

19 = 2019 | 01=January | 15=15th day of the month
This product was produced on January 15, 2019

First two digits

18 = 2018
19 = 2019
20 = 2020
21 = 2021
22 = 2022
23 = 2023
24 = 2024
25 = 2025

Second two digits

01 = January
02 = February
03 = March
04 = April
05 = May
06 = June
07 = July
08 = August
09 = September
10 = October
11 = November
12 = December

Third two digits

01 = 1st day of mo.
02 = 2nd day of mo.
03 = 3rd day of mo.
04 = 4th day of mo.
05 = 5th day of mo.
06 = 6th day of mo.
07 = 7th day of mo.
08 = 8th day of mo.
09 = 9th day of mo.
